The 83rd Texas legislative session will be the focus for the next presentation in The Texas Tribune Events Series set for March 27 at Texas A&M University, with three Brazos Valley legislators scheduled to participate.
State Senator Charles Schwertner will be joined by Representatives John Raney and Kyle Kacal for the 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. program in the Memorial Student Center. Texas A&M University System Chancellor John Sharp and Texas A&M Interim President Mark Hussey also will participate in the event.
Texas A&M officials say they welcome the opportunity to host the discussion about last year’s legislative session and are pleased to have Sen. Schwertner, Rep. Kacal and Rep. Raney on campus and offering their perspectives.
“The Brazos Valley is well represented by these respected leaders, and we are delighted to host this conversation here at Texas A&M,” notes Chancellor Sharp.
The program will be moderated by Evan Smith, CEO and editor-in-chief of The Texas Tribune, a non-profit, non-partisan media organization that promotes discourse on vital issues of statewide interest.
The campus program is presented by The Texas A&M University System, Texas A&M University, BlueCross BlueShield of Texas and Texas Mutual Insurance Company. Other program supporters include AT&T, CHRISTUS Health and BP (British Petroleum). Tribune events are also supported through contributions from its founding investors and members.
