KAMU TV and Brazos Valley Magazine, a weekly community affairs show, will air an interview with biomedical engineering department head Dr. Gerard Coté, April 26, 28, and 29 and May 5 and 6. Coté will discuss his work in optical sensors for in vitro and in vivo medical diagnosis and monitoring.
Coté is recognized as a worldwide expert in the design and development of optical techniques for diagnostic and biomedical sensing applications. His research in the area of optical glucose monitoring for determining blood sugar levels in diabetes is highlighted in several journal papers and patents. Coté was recently elected as SPIE Fellow, the international society for optics and photonics; is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE); and was recently named Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) and of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
